Forklift Supervisor Training

OSHA requires that each employer "shall furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards" - Public law 91-596. Powered Industrial Trucks can present a hazard in the workplace if not properly controlled. To aid in compliance with this OSHA requirement, Carolina Handling offers training that targets Supervisors in warehouse environments.

The eight hour Forklift Supervisor Training program provides the following:

  • Complete understanding of OSHA 1910.178 and ANSI B56.1 standards.
  • Review of OSHA requirements for recordkeeping and reporting as it applies to Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT).
  • Review of Companies forklift certification and re-certification policy.
  • Development of individual templates for PIT Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Hands on training and demonstration of identifying safe and at risk operation.
  • Tools and Tips for promoting a Safety First culture in the workplace.

Upon completion of this training the attendee will understand the requirements for safe operation of PIT's and be able to identify at risk operation. The attendee will also have created an outline for policies surrounding PIT use and methods for perpetuating safe operation in the workplace.

Maintenance Management

Managing a maintenance shop for lift equipment can be a challenge. Maintaining up-time while controlling costs and providing a safe fleet can feel like a struggle to balance. Carolina Handling offers consultation services that will aid in meeting these objectives.

The consultation service provides the following:

  • Fleet analysis with a detailed outline of truck condition.
  • Development of a scheduled maintenance program with ongoing evaluation of equipment.
  • Technician analysis including development plans with suggested training.
  • Review of parts usage to identify cost savings opportunities.

The end result of the consultation service is to transfer the skills necessary to manage the maintenance shop for continued results and improvements.
